Zhangjiang Group and IBM (China) signed an agreement on Oct 25 to build an innovation center focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, which will require three years of cooperation.

The two sides expect the innovation center to serve 500 domestic and overseas enterprises involved in AI, big data, financial technology, biomedicine, and advanced manufacturing and generate 30 to 60 intellectual properties or patents in the next three years.

The agreement marked the beginning of cooperation between Zhangjiang Group, which is responsible for the development and construction of the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, and IBM, a large multinational technology and consulting corporation that leads the AI industry in terms of market share.

Training camps to cultivate AI talent, competitions for innovative AI projects, and meetings for AI developers will be held at the innovation center once it is completed.
