Online media registration for the second China International Import Expo opened on Friday. The registration system at media.ciie.org will be accessible until September 30.

When registering for a media pass, foreign journalists who will be travelling to China to cover the event need to specify their outlet in the "foreign media organizations" listing under the media organization category, and select the "foreigners for temporary stay in China" option when entering their personal information.

After signing up online, the system will generate a confirmation letter for foreign journalists to apply for a J-2 visa at Chinese embassies, consulates or visa agencies authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in their countries.

Resident foreign journalists in China will also need to register in the system, and select the "foreigners for permanent stay in China" option when filling out their information.

Journalists from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, have to select "Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan media organizations" in the media category and input their specific region in the personal information field.

The time and place for the pickup of media passes will be updated on the official website of the expo (www.ciie.org) later.

Last year, around 4,100 journalists from 65 countries and regions covered the inaugural expo.
