With 97 days to go before the second China International Import Expo – or CIIE, Pudong New Area of Shanghai has pledged to spearhead the expo with top-class services, according to a statement made by district officials on July 30.

Weng Zuliang, Party secretary of the district, said that although Pudong is not the main venue for the expo, it is the major force guaranteeing the quality of the city's services. The district will shoulder its responsibilities and do its part to ensure the second CIIE reaches new heights.

Sun Chenghai, vice director of the CIIE Bureau, said that positive results have been achieved by Pudong during the preparations of the first and second CIIE by leveraging its resource advantages.

He expressed his hope the district would continue to give full play to the advantages of its sound industrial base and the large numbers of resident internationally funded companies and corporations to help improve the professional levels of CIIE buyers.

The second CIIE, slated to take place in early November in Shanghai, has attracted more than 3,000 companies from over 150 countries and regions to sign up, topping the numbers of the first expo.
