Shanghai achieves high score for business environment

Shanghai's overall business environment scored 83.6 points out of 100, with the majority of companies lauding the city's government efficiency and taxation matters, according to the Survey Office of the National Bureau of Statistics in Shanghai.

The score, which was released by the survey office on March 6, was based on a poll of 3,395 companies that took into account factors such as legal environment, government administration and policies, as well as economy and market conditions.

Within the sphere of government administration and policies, Shanghai scored 85.2 points for policy transparency and 85.2 points in policy stability. In terms of economy and market environment, Shanghai achieved 82 points for its "support of social organizations and industry associations" and 81.8 points for ease of market access.

The office also noted that Shanghai scored 87.3 points for security level, 86.9 points for development of public transportation, 86.6 points for convenience in everyday life and 85.8 points for infrastructure.
