Shanghai's Pudong New Area launched a promotion campaign for Shanghai-style cheongsam in its Zhangjiang area on Dec 16.

Cheongsam is one of the most typical, traditional, and feminine body-hugging dress with distinctive Chinese features. Shanghai-style cheongsam is a kind of local intangible cultural heritage.

Twelve cheongsams made of fine cotton cloth called Sanlin Biaobu (三林标布), also a local intangible cultural heritage, made their first appearance in front of the public.

This series of cheongsams will soon be put on the market, according to Ni Yunhua, director of Shanghai-style Cheongsam Cultural Exchange Center, organizer of the event.

The culture of cheongsam can be well-preserved and inherited only when it's worn more often in our daily life, said Ni.

Sun Yu, deputy head of Pudong publicity department, expressed the expectation that more Pudong culture-featured cheongsam will be designed and put on the market.

The Shanghai-style Cheongsam Cultural Exchange Center, founded in 2017, has been dedicated to promoting cheongsam culture. Also, it offers various training activities on tea art, paper cut, recital, oil painting, and some others, in hope of enhancing women's inner beauty.
