Jinqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone, a hub in Shanghai's Pudong New Area, is accelerating its transformation into a globally influential smart manufacturing area as leading multinationals deepen their local presence.

Leica Microsystems (Shanghai), a subsidiary of Danaher Group, announced its new R&D and manufacturing center in Jinqiao will become fully operational by 2026, serving as a global supply chain hub.

Leica, renowned for optical innovation, recently delivered its first batch of China-produced DM 4/6/i8 microscopes in Pudong. Annette Rinck, Leica's global president, emphasized the strategic value of localization: "Combining Germany's century-old optical expertise with China's innovation efficiency ensures global clients access cutting-edge technology simultaneously."

In 2022, Danaher launched a strategy to enhance its R&D and manufacturing capabilities in China. According to the initiative, 80 percent of its products sold in China will be locally manufactured by 2026, with 80 percent of raw materials sourced domestically.

Sigenergy, a global leader in solar energy storage, launched its global headquarters and R&D center in Jinqiao 5G Industrial Ecological Park, injecting momentum into the region's new energy ecosystem.

With the help of Pudong government's precise services, Sigenergy achieved record-breaking speed in setting up its Jinqiao facility — producing its first storage system just 18 days after project launch.

Moving forward, the center will develop high-precision products like its globally patented "five-in-one" photovoltaic storage systems.

Jinqiao's ecosystem, supported by Pudong's streamlined services, exemplifies China's appeal for foreign investment. As Jinqiao evolves into a smart manufacturing powerhouse, these collaborations highlight the synergy between global tech leadership and local innovation.
