Pudong attracts MNCs as hub for growth and innovation
Multinational companies have been actively expanding investment in Shanghai since the beginning of 2025, with a focus on innovation and value chain upgrades in Pudong New Area.
In July, the globally leading high-tech company Honeywell held its first Honeywell China Growth Symposium in Shanghai. Similarly in June, Infineon Technologies held the 2025 OktoberTech, a technology collaboration forum hosted by Infineon, in the city.

William Yu, president of Honeywell China, expressed the company's strong confidence in the Chinese market. According to Yu, Honeywell has not only witnessed the rapid growth in China but also been a beneficiary of it. "Opportunities lie in the market growth, we need to be at the place where there's client demand," he explained.
Last year, Honeywell renovated its Technology Experience Center in Pudong, the second largest one in the world. It's also considering potential collaboration with Chinese universities in the future to promote Chinese R&D to the globe.
In May, the Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche announced its plan to establish a new production base in Pudong with an investment of 2.04 billion yuan ($284.32 million), aiming to enhance local supply chain and innovation. The new production hub will cover about 3.5 hectares with commercial operations expected in 2031.
Vivian Bian, CEO of Roche China, stated that the additional investment shows Roche's progress in local production capacity and a major breakthrough in locally producing more innovative drugs, thanks to the support from the central and local governments.

In February, Shanghai released measures helping multinational corporations establish and expand their regional headquarters in the city, while in April, Pudong released supportive measures to attract foreign investment.
