The launch ceremony of the 2022 Shanghai Import Shopping Festival kicked off in Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone in the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, which is located in China's Shanghai, on Aug 25, and was intended to promote support for the recovery of the consumption industry.

Waigaoqiao is recognized as "the closest place to the outside world" due to its role in facilitating international trade and importing goods from other countries to China. Consumers in Shanghai are able to purchase goods from all around the world without leaving the city thanks to the festival's exhibition of more than 200 popular products at the fourth China International Import Expo (CIIE).

Syria is a nation whose fine handicrafts are well-known around the world. Consumers are offered the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of customary and exquisite local handicrafts as well as the rich history of this ancient culture in the Syria exhibition area of the Middle East and Africa Pavilion of the Country (Region) Center.

Many popular products at the previous CIIEs such as handmade wool carpets from Iran, Japanese handmade iron kettles, and civet cat coffee from East Timor have been favorites among consumers.

Multinational beauty giant L'Oreal Group has participated in the CIIE for four consecutive years, and will be present at this year's CIIE. Its branch L'Oreal Paris brand held a "luxury beauty course" at the ceremony, and showcased a number of new products and technologies.

According to the festival's organizers, it will run through September and feature a total of 21 online and offline activities that are expected to benefit consumers and businesses in developing countries.
