Many communities in Pudong New Area, East China's Shanghai are now under lockdown due to the current severe COVID-19 pandemic, and high-end technologies are being widely used in lockdown zones to help the COVID-19 fight.

Residents living in a lockdown zone in Zhangjiang, Pudong now can buy fruits, vegetables and daily necessities via a smartphone app at a driverless vehicle, which not only enhance logistics efficiency, and reduce logistics costs, but also avoid physical contact.

The driverless vehicle is developed by Neolix, which is situated at the Zhangjiang Artificial Intelligence Island. The company is based in Beijing, and is a self-driving logistics startup that deploys autonomous vehicles to serve food products as non-contact food delivery.

The driverless vehicle can guide consumers how to operate. When all the things on the vehicle are sold out, it can drive itself to the nearest shop to replenish supplies, and then return to the designated spot by itself.

According to a staff member of Neolix, the company has been actively involved in the country's fight against COVID-19 pandemic since 2020, and the driverless vehicles it developed have been widely used in transporting epidemic prevention and control materials, and taking part in disinfection and sterilization work.
