Sci-tech festival opens in Pudong
The 2020 Science and Technology Festival of Pudong New Area opened in Shanghai Aug 25.
This year's event, which is themed on Pudong's latest sci-tech innovation achievements and its contribution to the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak, aims to promote a development model combining science education, innovation and industries.
An exhibition of new technology, equipment and products used in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 outbreak made its debut at the opening ceremony. It is the first of its kind in Shanghai and will be shown in industrial parks and residential communities after this first exhibition.
During the epidemic fight, Pudong companies accelerated the research and development of dozens of test kits. CT systems and disinfection robots powered by artificial intelligence were delivered to the frontline in Wuhan, Hubei province.
Pudong-based Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility and Nantong Center for Protein Science have helped discover how the proteins of the novel coronavirus connect to the human body, laying the key foundation for the design of a vaccine.
In addition to the exhibition, there will also be lectures, sci-tech shows for teenagers and farmers, visits to key laboratories and sci-tech bazaars.
