Construction on 35 major projects worth a total of 41.8 billion yuan ($6.02 billion) in Pudong New Area resumed on March 7. The projects focus on infrastructure, the environment, culture, and healthcare.

Pudong hopes to resume construction on 112 major projects costing 72.1 billion yuan by the end of March, and hopes to begin construction on 30 new projects costing 11.5 billion yuan by the end of the year.

"We have created detailed plans and established a special task force to help companies resume operations. We have also used an intelligent personnel management system integrating temperature measurements, facial recognition, and registration to ensure safety," said Du Yuliang, deputy director of the construction headquarters for major projects in Pudong.

Cao Yifeng, manager of a renovation project on a 7.1-kilometer road, said that the construction headquarters has helped 67 construction workers from Jiangsu and Anhui provinces return to work.

"We estimate that around 140 workers will be back to work by mid-March," said Cao.

At the ceremony marking the resumption of construction on 35 major projects on March 7, Wang Xiaojie, director of the construction headquarters of major projects in Pudong, donated 361,130 yuan to Wuhan for epidemic control efforts on behalf of 39 participating construction units.
