Zhangjiang to build science assembly hall
A foundation stone laying ceremony for the Zhangjiang science assembly hall was held at Shanghai Zhangjiang National Innovation Demonstration Zone on Dec 28.
The assembly hall is one of the five projects of Zhangjiang science city, with a planned total area of nearly 40,000 square meters.
In the future, the assembly hall will host various events, including international conferences, technological forums and exhibitions, and act as an interaction and scientific education platform.

As the global science and technology innovative center of Shanghai and a comprehensive national science center, Zhangjiang is expected to develop as a growing world-class scientific and innovative center.
Yuan Tao, Party secretary of Zhangjiang Group, said at the ceremony that in view of the lack of public service facilities in Zhangjiang, the project focuses on setting up influential high-level cultural and sports facilities. It will play an important role in promoting the construction of Zhangjiang science city and the ecological construction of the area.
The architectural concept for the final design of the assembly hall was from Christian de Portzamparc, winner of the 1994 Pritzker Architecture Prize, and was selected through international competition.
